Mention Fort William and everybody immediately thinks of Ben Nevis, but Lochaber is a paradise, not just for climbers and hill walkers but, for anyone who enjoys being in the outdoors. And it’s all on your doorstep at ‘Mountain View’, making it an ideal base for your outdoor holiday.
Lochaber stretches all the way to the sea coastline including Ardnamurchan and Mallaig in the west, and includes the historical area of Glen Spean in the north-east and of course the Great Glen in the north – on the way to Loch Ness.
Lochaber’s “capital” – the Highland town of Fort William sits at the head of Loch Linnhe and at the foot of Ben Nevis, the highest and most popular mountain in the British Isles. Where is Lochaber
Lochaber is a large area of the Scottish West Highlands with stunning and majestic scenery. The popular town of Fort William on the north side of Loch Linnhe and the Ben Nevis mountain range are the most important tourist destinations. The area of Lochaber includes Fort Augustus in the north, the Ardnamurchan, Morvern, Arisaig and Morar and Knoydart peninsula’s in the west, the impressive Nevis range in the centre and Glen Coe and Rannoch Moor in the east.
