Our High 9s initiative recently attracted four members of Pitlochry Golf Club to tee up at four 9-hole courses in the Highlands.

Kay Fleming, Di Barbour, Louise Kelly and Ann Mailer embarked on the trip, which Ann labelled the Tour de Four(ce), after Kay had read about the High 9s on social media.

Ann said: “It was a brilliant idea.  Booking the four selected courses was made very easy by helpful members in every club and we could not have been made more welcome. We will de definitely be back.Again, thanks to all.

“The 9-hole courses allow golfers to enjoy a round in beautiful settings but still have time to explore other places of interest in the area or move on to golf pastures new that same day.

“We loved that. For example, we played two courses on Sunday and on Monday - after playing at Aigas Golf Club, we visited Beauly and spent a couple of hours that afternoon in a wonderful cafe and then the night at Chrialdon House which is a most fabulous B&B.”

The four courses visited were –

Abernethy Golf Club “We found all at the club very friendly, especially the kitchen staff and their food was delicious.

Portmahomack Golf ClubVery hospitable members, one member kindly gave Louise his electric cart to use on learning that she had injured her leg. The views as you go around this course are incredible. Well worth a visit.”

Bonar Bridge and Ardgay Golf Club “Warm welcome and tasty food. A very beautiful course with many challenging holes. If you are heading north from Tain, a detour to Bonar Bridge would be very rewarding.”

Aigas Golf Club “This is a little gem, beautifully laid out on former farmland. It must be wonderful to play this course in autumn when the foliage must be even more colourful. The owners were very welcoming and helpf
