YOUTUBER BOWLED OVER BY GOLF HIGHLAND BEAUTIES

Former European Tour professional, Warren Bennett at Gairloch Golf Club

BLUE skies and barely a breath of wind.

Kent based ex-Tour pro and popular You Tuber Warren Bennett certainly timed his recent visit to Gairloch Golf Club and other Golf Highland courses to perfection.

Trips to the Isle of Skye, Durness, Ullapool, Fort William and Brora also captured his imagination on a tour of the Scottish Highlands. With a drone and his four-legged friend Trev for company, in his Golf Academy “Spikes Less Travelled” series Warren offers viewers close-ups of these Golf Highland gems, offering valuable playing tips along the way.

He experienced the “Wow Factor” on all his stop-offs.

At Gairloch, he likens the signature Par 5 526-yard beachside 8th hole to Pebble Beach!

Ullapool and Durness also bear comparison to the famous US course, although the price of a round might differ!

“It is an absolutely stunning location and a lovely golf course as well,” raves Warren at Gairloch, although the same can be said for so many Golf Highland courses.

“The condition of the course is stunning as well. It is so affordable, with views of the beach and the mountains.”

Warren was welcomed to the equally spectacular Isle of Skye Golf Club, another beauty with nine holes and two tees to set-up a memorable round.

“I came here years ago and wanted to play this golf course,” he recalled.“What a place! It doesn’t have to be long to be tricky. It’s very playable, and great fun. I can’t wait to come back.”

Many of the Golf Highland courses have clubs for hire to tourists on their travels.

Like many before him, Warren was blown away by both the road journey north from Ullapool and the “amazing backdrop” at Durness.

He was blessed with great weather at Ullapool – 23 degrees – and captured the splendid views from the split level raised beach course by Loch Broom.

“We’ve only got to the second and it is breathtaking already,” says Warren.“An unbelievable course.”

Playing Durness before the sheep were moved on after the lambing season, he declared: “It is a proper golf course. Really solid.

“It is an absolutely fantastic, beautiful, stunning golf course. The final hole is unbelievable, pretty special.

“There are holes which will live with me for the rest of my life.”

Reflecting on his decision to make the trip north, Warren explains: “Friends at Chestfield come up here to the north of Scotland and said I just had to come.

“These little courses are affordable and playable. They are great fun, with views. Amazing!”
